Can you play Roblox on Nintendo Switch? No. As of November 2026, there is no Roblox app for the Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED or Switch 2. Roblox is not in the Nintendo eShop, Roblox does not list the Switch among its supported devices, and neither Roblox nor Nintendo has announced a release date. The browser tricks you see on YouTube do not run Roblox games either. Below is what we checked, which workarounds fail and why, and what to play instead.
Watch out for scams: there is no real “Roblox for Switch” download anywhere. Sites and videos offering a Roblox Switch file, APK or code are fake, and many are after your Roblox password or your console. Roblox will only ever come to Switch through the Nintendo eShop.
Every method, tested against the facts
| Method | Does it work? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Roblox from the Nintendo eShop | No | There is no Roblox listing in the eShop on Switch or Switch 2 |
| Switch’s hidden web browser | No | Roblox games run in the Roblox app, not in a browser. The website lets you browse, but the Play button needs an app the Switch cannot install |
| SwitchBru DNS workaround | No | It opens that same limited browser through a third-party server, so it has the same problem, plus privacy risks |
| Installing Android or homebrew on the Switch | Not recommended | Requires hacking the console, which can get it banned from Nintendo’s online services, void the warranty or brick it. Roblox also blocks modified devices |
| Playing on another device | Yes | Roblox officially runs on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, Xbox, PlayStation and Meta Quest |
Can you play Roblox on Nintendo Switch 2?
No. The Switch 2 changed a lot of hardware, but it did not change this. Roblox’s official download page lists Mac, iOS, Android, PlayStation, Xbox, Meta Quest, the Microsoft Store, the Amazon Appstore and the Samsung Galaxy Store. Nintendo is not on the list, and there is no Roblox page in the Switch 2 eShop.
Social media posts claiming Roblox is “coming soon to Switch 2” have circulated all year. None of them link to an announcement from Roblox or Nintendo, because there has not been one.
Why Roblox is not on Switch
Roblox is not one game. It is a platform that downloads and runs millions of player-made experiences inside its own app, and each experience is built to run on every supported device. Bringing that to a new console means a full native app, plus age checks, chat filtering, parental controls and Robux purchases that meet the console maker’s rules.
The idea is not new. On Roblox’s first-quarter earnings call in 2021, CEO Dave Baszucki said Switch, PlayStation and Quest all “make perfect sense for Roblox”, but he gave no timeline. Since then, Roblox has launched on PlayStation and Meta Quest. The Switch is the only major console from that list still missing, five years later.
Our read: Roblox has shown it adds platforms once it is ready, and the Switch 2’s stronger hardware removes one obvious obstacle. But until Roblox or Nintendo announces it, every release date you see online is a guess.
Why the browser and DNS tricks don’t work
The Switch has a hidden web browser that Nintendo uses for Wi-Fi login pages at hotels and airports. The SwitchBru trick reaches it by changing the console’s DNS server so that a third-party page loads instead. German site GamePro confirmed the same hidden browser is on the Switch 2, and described it as very slow.
Even if you reach roblox.com this way, you can only look at the site. Pressing Play on any Roblox experience asks you to open or install the Roblox app, and the Switch cannot install it. You also send your browsing through someone else’s server, so never log in to your Roblox account that way. If you tried the trick, set your Switch’s DNS back to Automatic under System Settings > Internet afterward, or online play can stop working.
Where you can play Roblox instead
If you have any of these, you can play Roblox for free with the same account, avatar and Robux:
- Windows PC or Mac: download from roblox.com.
- iPhone or iPad: App Store.
- Android phones and tablets: Google Play, Samsung Galaxy Store or Amazon Appstore.
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One: Microsoft Store on Xbox.
- PlayStation 5 and PS4: PlayStation Store.
- Meta Quest: Meta Horizon Store.

Best Roblox-style games on Nintendo Switch
If the Switch is your only console, these games come closest to what Roblox offers, whether that is building, playing worlds other people made, or hanging out with friends online:
| Game | Price | Why Roblox fans like it |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | Paid | Open-world building, survival, servers and community-made worlds, with cross-play |
| Fortnite (including Creative and LEGO Fortnite) | Free | Thousands of player-made islands, much like Roblox experiences, plus LEGO survival and building |
| Game Builder Garage | Paid | Nintendo’s own game-making tool: build your own games and share them, like a simple Roblox Studio |
| Super Mario Maker 2 | Paid | Design platform levels and play millions made by other players |

For parents
If your child asks “can you play Roblox on Nintendo Switch?”, the honest answer is no, because a Switch version does not exist. Children who search for it often land on fake download pages, “free Robux” offers and videos telling them to change console settings, so it is worth telling them that clearly. If you decide to let them play Roblox on another device, set up Roblox’s parental controls for spending limits, chat and content maturity first.
The bottom line
So, can you play Roblox on Nintendo Switch in 2026? No: not on the original Switch, the Lite, the OLED or the Switch 2, and no workaround changes that. Use a PC, phone, tablet, Xbox, PlayStation or Quest for Roblox, and pick Minecraft, Fortnite or one of Nintendo’s creation games on Switch. We will update this article if Roblox or Nintendo announces a Switch version. For more gaming news, see our Gaming section.
Roblox on Switch FAQ

No. There is no official Roblox app on Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED or Switch 2, and Roblox is not in the Nintendo eShop. Browser and DNS workarounds cannot run Roblox games.
Is Roblox coming to Switch 2?
Nothing has been announced. Roblox’s CEO said in 2021 that the Switch “makes perfect sense” for Roblox, but neither Roblox nor Nintendo has confirmed a Switch or Switch 2 version or a release date.
