The best technology podcasts in 2026 are not all AI news shows. The list that holds up across the whole year mixes AI and engineering, tech journalism, startups, long interviews, cybersecurity and shows about living well with technology. To build it, we used chart data rather than opinion: every podcast below appeared in all 27 snapshots of the US Apple Podcasts Technology chart that CastFox recorded between February 24 and October 3, 2026. We added each show’s average US rank and how many countries it charts in, so you can see why it made the list.

The 20 best technology podcasts of 2026 at a glance
Ranking order follows CastFox’s October 2026 tech ranking. “Avg US rank” is the show’s average position on the US Apple Podcasts Technology chart across the 27 snapshots; “Countries” is how many of the 78 tracked countries had it in the tech top 100 on the latest snapshot.

Why the ranking is not just the chart
If you sorted these shows by average US rank alone, the order would look very different. All-In has the best average position of any show on the list, 1.9, yet it ranks second. Tomorrow, Today averages 3.7 and has reached No. 1 in the US, but it sits at No. 19. The reason is how the score is built: CastFox gives 50% of the weight to consistency (how many snapshots a show appeared in), 30% to average US rank and 20% to international reach.
That last factor explains most of the surprises. Acquired charts in all 78 tracked countries, so it edges out All-In, which charts in 76. Tomorrow, Today charts in only 4 countries, which pulls it down despite its strong US numbers. For a US listener, that means the table is a list of shows with staying power, and the “Avg US rank” column is the better guide to what Americans are listening to most right now.
Best by category
AI and engineering
- The AI Daily Brief is the highest-ranked AI show on the list, with an average US rank of 6.2 and around 1,000 episodes. It is the easiest daily habit if you want AI news without reading every announcement.
- Dwarkesh Podcast reached No. 1 in the US during the tracking window. Choose it for long, heavily researched conversations about frontier AI and science.
- Latent Space is the most technical show in the top 20, aimed at engineers working with models, agents and infrastructure.
- Practical AI is the accessible engineering pick, focused on real-world deployment of machine learning and language models.

Tech news and gadgets
- Hard Fork is the highest-ranked tech news show and No. 3 overall, charting in 77 countries. It is the simplest weekly entry point to mainstream tech and AI news.
- The Vergecast covers devices, platforms and tech policy, and charts in 73 countries.
- Waveform is the biggest consumer hardware show on the list, built on more than a decade of product reviews.
- TBPN is a daily live weekday show that reached the US top three this year; pick it if you want a fast Silicon Valley conversation instead of a weekly digest.
Startups and business
- Acquired tells the full story of how major companies were built and is the most consistent show in the category.
- All-In offers opinionated debate on tech, markets and politics from four investors, and stays closest to No. 1 week after week.
- The a16z Show brings frequent venture capital perspectives and a deep bench of guests.
- Lenny’s Podcast is the only product management show in the top 20, with tactical advice on building and growing products.
Security, focus and digital culture
- Darknet Diaries is the only cybersecurity show in the top 20, telling true stories about breaches, hackers and cybercrime.
- Better Offline is the critical voice on a chart full of insiders, questioning the industry’s growth-at-all-costs model.
- Deep Questions with Cal Newport is about living with technology rather than following it, with a focus on attention and meaningful work.
- Search Engine has the best average US rank of any narrative show on the list, built on storytelling about the internet and modern life.
A second opinion: what the editors pick
Chart rankings measure popularity, not usefulness. The Podcast Summary ranks tech shows a different way: by how often each show’s recent episodes produced ideas for its newsletters over a 12-week window. On its list, the top three are No Priors, Complex Systems and Dwarkesh Podcast. No Priors, hosted by Sarah Guo and Elad Gil, covers AI startups, investing and the path from research to product, and it does not appear in the chart-based top 20 at all. Dwarkesh Podcast is the one show near the top of both lists, which makes it the safest pick if you only add one AI interview show.
